背景資料

Thousands of wheel-users intersect in Hong Kong every day. Some of them work with the wheels, transporting heavy bulky items throughout the multi-layer city. Some of them rely on the wheels to commute. Wheels users are essential in our city. They support all kinds of activities to facilitate our city. They should all have equal rights of road use, yet their safety is largely ignored. Our cleaners and recyclers are often in danger when pushing trolley across busy traffic lanes while parents are struggle to find a safe route to travel with baby prams. Walking with wheels (WWW) is an initiative to improve our poor urban design for wheels-users in Hong Kong. There are different types of wheels, i.e., strollers, carriers, wheelchairs, street cleaning. WWW aims to advocate better road design and urban planning not only to save lives of those working or walking with wheels but to create a better environment for this undesired mode of traffic

我們可提供的資源

All relevant information will be provided. Our team completed some research to build an understanding of this issue, e.g., documented stories of workers who push carts and trollies every day, explored routes to minimize accidents and analysed the obstacles of different road users. On November 2020, we introduced a paper of revising traffic lanes at the Central and Western District Council. The government officials are now investigating the possibility of our findings. Next, we plan to raise public awareness of our road-use and rethink the opportunities for pedestrianisation in our city.

對我們的意義

It is an initial focusing on a long neglected groups - cleaner, recyclers and all wheel-users in Hong Kong. By demonstrating the research and photos, we wish to draw public attention and stimulate policy change. The Art exhibition is our final stage to present all our works to the media and the public.
