Leading the charge amongst Singapore's new generation of entrepreneurs, Chris Hwang and Jonathan Shen founded The Golden Duck, Asia's fastest growing gourmet snacks company. They have been featured in Forbes 30 Under 30's class of 2017, and The Golden Duck won the Most Promising Start Up award in the Emerging Enterprise Awards 2017. Hailing from a myriad background, Chris spent his formative years representing Singapore as a national bowler, before turning his attention to various start-ups - with businesses ranging from education to entertainment. Eventually with partner Jonathan Shen he founded The Golden Duck in 2015 at the age of 23, and soon after he dropped out of his law course at NUS to pursue the entrepreneurial dream. His business partner and co-founder Jonathan noticed a wave building in Singapore's vibrant food and flavour scene back in 2015 when he was the then marketing head of a prominent lifestyle and F&B group. Both new to the manufacturing industry, they set out on a journey to popular salted egg dishes into snack form. With a background in branding, marketing and design, as well as experience in running various start-ups in his early twenties, Jonathan took everything he learnt and applied it to the budding gourmet snacks company. In the last 3 years, The Golden Duck has grown to over 100 full-time employees, boasting a production output of more than 20 tonnes per month, and promises an exciting new range of flavour combinations that is set to change the way the world snacks.
