For 25 years, Ruth has been delivering meals, supervising volunteers, and doing everything in the office from answering phones to mailing monthly letters.

So, just doing a little math…

That’s basically holding a full-time job for 14 years – without pay.  All for the love of helping other seniors and shut-ins who have trouble making meals from themselves.  14 years.  The average person stays at their job for an average of two years these days.  The Apollo program, NASA’s mission to put a man on the moon, started with JFK’s speech in 1961, and Neil Armstrong took his first steps on the lunar surface in 1969.  8 years.  The Apollo program ended in 1975, roughly 14 years after President Kennedy’s announcement.  That’s how significant 14 years can be.

Each volunteer out there is an inspiration to somebody, and we hope that you will stay committed to causes you are passionate about.  Though the end goal may seem as far away as the moon, each hour that you put in gets you that much closer.
