FAQ
Is Time Auction really free?
Yes! At least in terms of dollars. Time Auction focuses on the value of time spent volunteering, and that is what we use as currency to bid on the things you want.
When do we receive the item we won from bidding?
You receive the item after you complete your volunteer hours. This is to ensure you actually finish your hours, which is important for our participating charities, as well as our sponsor businesses.
When do I get the item I won?
After you have completed all the hours you bid for that item, and we have confirmed those hours.
How will you know if I've done my hours or not?
We have access to a lie detector. Kidding... we call the charity or not-for-profit once you're done and confirm with them.
Where can I do my volunteer hours?
At any registered Canadian charity or not-for-profit.
Why do we have to complete the hours in two months?
In our experience, the longer the time frame to complete the hours, the less likely a participant is able to complete his or her hours. Our sponsor businesses also expect that their donations will begin to make an immediate impact, which is important for future donations.
What if I go to the event and don't bid on anything?
We'll be sad... but don't worry, there are no tangible consequences.
How long is an event?
Roughly 1.5 hours, though it depends on how many bid items we have.
